About Flyeye Design

March 21st, 2008

Flyeye Design is a full-service design company located in Shepherdstown, West Virginia (just outside the DC metro area). We are a partnership between Jill Harner and Aaron Dom. Together, we combine our individual strengths to create original print design and web design.

We are passionate about design and enjoy working personally with our clients. We have worked with a range of companies, including small companies, nonprofits, and large companies. No job is too small! Even if you just need a web banner or updates on your site, contact us.

We have home offices, using Adobe Creative Suite software and are experienced on both PC and Macintosh computers.

Jill Harner is the graphic designer of the team.

She graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from Shepherd University in 1999 (and a minor in painting). Since then, she has accumulated over twelve years of experience in the design field. Some of her experiences includes working for a printer, a newspaper, a marketing company, an IT company, an online retail company, on a political campaign and for a government contractor.

She formally started Flyeye Design as her freelance company in 2002. Originally, she did small projects on the side (as she followed her Air Force husband, Alan, around the country and had two wonderful kids) but in 2007, she decided to take the leap and freelance full-time.

She was able to move permanently back to her favorite town, Shepherdstown, in August 2007 and really concentrate on expanding the business.

Aaron Dom is the web programmer of the team. He joined forces with Jill in March, 2007.

He’s loved programming since his first class in BASIC at the Country Day School, just outside Charles Town, WV, back in 1990. He continued his programming education in high school, learning PASCAL, would read HTML and Javascript books in his free time, and even into college he didn’t deny the available C++ and Java classes. It was during this time that he worked at the Coast Guard OSC in Martinsburg, WV as a civilian contractor, where he learned about database technology using Oracle’s Forms and Reports, and its affiliated programming language, PL/SQL.

When Jill approached him in 2007 looking for a partner for her web design interests, it didn’t take long before he brushed up on his HTML and Javascript, and pursued the web-related technologies of CSS, Flash, PHP, MySQL and the integration of databases with the web.

He currently does freelance projects with Jill to expand his capabilities, while keeping steady work maintaining the website of Scholastic Book Clubs, Inc.
